My name is Maxim Ivanov (aka Max Lomak), I’m 33.
I was born and raised in Moscow, Russia. My nickname is Max Lomak.
In the past 6 years, I was doing fine arts/graphic arts, even though my professional education belongs to another sphere. I was studying at Maxim Gorky
Literature Institute in Moscow. For quite a long time I was into literary activities, writing verses and prose.
A while ago, after some personal changes in my life, I switched my activity and started to draw. That was a result of my prolonged journey to European and
Asian countries, during which I met many interesting people.
My maternal grandfather was a professional painter and landscapist. When I was a kid, I used to spend a lot of time with him. It was probably then, when I
watched him drawing, I absorbed the spirit of creative solidity, which is going hand in hand with me ever since. Since early ages I knew that I would become
a painter and that it was just a matter of time.
Because my drawing experience is currently limited, I’m in the constant search and experiment. I think it is very important, as any artist, whether it is a
writer, a painter or musician - should always explore, try new things, make mistakes, analyze, be astonished, step out of his or her comfort zone - in other
words, always stay a newcomer and a pioneer. It is exactly this that makes every personality evolve.
I’m working with different technics and genres: canvas, serigraphy, graphics, etc., but my main practice now is monumental painting. This is one of my
favorite dimensions, this is my bread and butter – muralism.
